Legend has it that Motovun was built by giants with huge stones collected from the valley of the Mirna River. The whole city is a open-air museum with many monuments. Motovun preserved the authentic landscape of the Middle Ages. Motovun also has the longest staircase in Istria. There are 1052 steps from the top of the hill to the bottom of the mountain! Motovun also has several palaces located around the town square.
The Motovun Film Festival is held every year. The city is in a festive mood during this period and you can enjoy the enchanting atmosphere.
